      The Department of Political Science in Pithapur Raja's Government College was established in the year 1884, when the institution was upgraded as First Grade College affiliated to Madras University.  The Department has been working with the objective of imparting quality education in the field of Political Science.  The Department is striving to produce responsible citizens with an awareness of the spirit of Democracy, the political structure and maladies influencing the system and the society.   

     The Department has produced a galaxy of eminent people who have made a mark of themselves in various walks of life.  To name them a few:

Sri G.M.C. Balayogi, former Speaker of Loksabha, 
Sri Madduri Annapurnayya, Freedom Fighter and Social Reformer, 
Sri Alluri Sitarama Raju, Freedom Fighter, 
Sri Prativadi Bhayankarachari, prominent freedom fighter who was sent to the 
                                                 Circular Jail in Andamans by the British Government.
